# Tokens

A **Token** is a reusable, PCI-safe reference to a customer's credit card. Tokens are created on the client with `komoju.js` (or an equivalent SDK) so that raw card data never touches your servers, and can then be exchanged server-side for a payment or attached to a customer for future charges.

## The Token object

A **Token** is a reusable, PCI-safe reference to a customer's payment
instrument (typically a credit card). Tokens are created on the client with
`komoju.js` so raw card data never touches your servers, then exchanged
server-side to create a payment or attach the card to a customer.

### Attributes

- **`id`** *string (UUID)* *required*

  A unique 25-character alphanumeric resource identifier.

- **`resource`** *string enum* *required*

  Resource type name, always "token".

- **`created_at`** *string* *required*

  Timestamp when the token was created.

- **`payment_details`** *object* *required*
